The location
An undiscovered part of Austria: the Lachtal
The Lachtal is located in Stiria ( Steiermarken), close to Judenburg and in the middle of nature.
In the summer there are plenty hiking options (whether or not guided). Nature lovers can indulge themselves in the adjacent nature reserves.
Biking/Cycling information:
The Murtal is a nive region for bikingand cycling and several interesting roads are well described. One of those roads passes the Pölstaler Berghütte and is quite convient to go to the Klosterneuburgerhütte.
Skiing in the environment
Skiing fun around Oberzeiring
Several ski areas can be reached by car in the area. It is rather not possible to ski from the house and return.
By car you either go up to the Lachtal (the Kosterneuburgerhütte; approx. 10 minutes drive) or down to Oberziering (approx. 5 minutes drive) or also to the Lachtal Talstation (approx. 15 minutes drive).
The roads are normally kept clean, but in winter you never know 100%; so bring snow chains!
You can practice all winter sports in the area and there is also an ice rink nearby in Judenburg (20 minutes drive); skiing, cross-country skiing, schneeshuhwanderungen, snowboarding, fun park. The slopes are open from December till end of March.
